Barnstead

Barnstead is known for its recreational activities, like snowmobiling, hiking, fishing, kayaking and canoeing, as well as its close proximity to Portsmouth and Concord, NH. Route 28 runs through Barnstead, so there’s easy access for visitors to go to the lakes and mountains for both boating and skiing. The town was named in 1727 after Barnstable on Cape Cod, MA and Hempstead on Long Island, NY because settlers emigrated from those areas. Now, Barnstead is home to diverse communities who have come from far and wide to enjoy the town’s natural beauty.

Salty Dog

Pottery

Do you find yourself inspired by the nature around you? The owner of Salty Dog in Barnstead does as well. Barnstead’s nature inspires the forms and surfaces of her work with clay, so she can create sculptural and functional pieces for everyday use. Salty Dog Pottery can be found around the community, like the outdoor tiles at local elementary schools, or galleries and shows throughout New Hampshire and the Northeast. Make an appointment to shop, or just keep your eyes open around the community to see some state of the art work!
