Barnstead
Barnstead
Barnstead is known for its recreational activities, like snowmobiling, hiking, fishing, kayaking and canoeing, as well as its close proximity to Portsmouth and Concord, NH. Route 28 runs through Barnstead, so there's easy access for visitors to go to the lakes and mountains for both boating and skiing. The town was named in 1727 after Barnstable on Cape Cod, MA and Hempstead on Long Island, NY because settlers emigrated from those areas. Now, Barnstead is home to diverse communities who have come from far and wide to enjoy the town's natural beauty.
