North Conway

The Quintessential
New England Village

This popular village is home to more than one hundred fifty stores, fine art galleries, factory outlets, a beautiful park and historic train station, museums, golf, skiing, hiking, dining and more. With Mount Washington standing tall in the distance everything that makes a vacation in New Hampshire a treasured memory is a short walk or drive away. Surrounded by the White Mountain National Forest, every season has recreation and activities to keep you busy. If shopping is more your thing, the tax-free specialty and outlet shopping make for a fabulous afternoon. Notice the engraved granite pavers along the sidewalks - these are a way of commemorating special events and people by residents here in the Mount Washington Valley. North Conway has received many accolades in recent years; TripAdvisor claiming they are one of the 10 Best Leaf Peeping Towns in New England, National Geographic Magazine voting it one of the top 25 best ski towns in the world, and it was recently awarded the honor of Best Ski Town in the USA. Pretty cool, huh?

Highway 112 runs from Center Conway to North Woodstock, just south of Franconia Notch. Passing through the White Mountain National Forest, it is considered one of the most scenic highways in the U.S. and offers a number of interesting stopping off points. Highly regarded as the premiere “leaf-peeping” spot, the “Kanc” is spectacular in any season. This 30+ mile ride is chock full of photo opportunities, so pack some snacks and enjoy possibly the best autumn drive anywhere.

Kancamagus highway

This is a must-do easy hike through the National Forest to a magnificent spot where water cascades over a succession of huge stone slabs into a lovely, swimmable pool. It’s a stunning place popular for picnics and cooling off in the many waterfalls. As a local additional attraction, drive the paved road to the top of nearby Cathedral Ledge, where technical rock-climbers can often be seen working their way up its broad face. There are also fine views of the Conway area, although a short hike with minor rock scrambling is required for the best views.
