It's also a magnet for outdoors enthusiasts, who can take in some skiing at nearby Cranmore Mountain Resort or hike up to Cathedral Ledge for its sweeping views of Echo Lake State Park. There are plenty of eateries too – from fine dining to pubs – to round out your day.

North Conway has received many accolades in recent years; TripAdvisor claiming they are one of the 10 Best Leaf Peeping Towns in New England, National Geographic Magazine voting it one of the top 25 best ski towns in the world, and it was recently awarded the honor of Best Ski Town in the USA. Pretty cool, huh?
Enjoy an old-fashioned railroading experience with all trains departing from an 1874 station in North Conway Village. Whether you choose one of the Valley Trains to Conway or Bartlett, or take the Notch Train through spectacular Crawford Notch, this is a journey back in time the whole family will enjoy. Even well-behaved dogs are welcome!
Highway 112 runs from Center Conway to North Woodstock, just south of Franconia Notch. Passing through the White Mountain National Forest, it is considered one of the most scenic highways in the U.S. and offers a number of interesting stopping off points. Highly regarded as the premiere “leaf-peeping†spot, the “Kanc†is spectacular in any season. This 30+ mile ride is chock full of photo opportunities, so pack some snacks and enjoy possibly the best autumn drive anywhere.
This is a must-do easy hike through the National Forest to a magnificent spot where water cascades over a succession of huge stone slabs into a lovely, swimmable pool. It's a stunning place popular for picnics and cooling off in the many waterfalls. As a local additional attraction, drive the paved road to the top of nearby Cathedral Ledge, where technical rock-climbers can often be seen working their way up its broad face. There are also fine views of the Conway area, although a short hike with minor rock scrambling is required for the best views.
